Troubleshooting Guide

Here are some limitations of TweetEraser:

  • It can only delete up to 3,200 posts from your Twitter account. Twitter only displays 3,200 of your most recent tweets on your profile page. If you want to delete more tweets, upload your Twitter Archive, aka X Data file.
  • It cannot restore your deleted tweets, as they are permanent. This is why we always recommend downloading your Twitter Archive file.

TweetEraser didn’t delete anything because:

  • You exceeded the limits of your plan.
  • Twitter is facing a problem.
  • The tweets you want to delete no longer exist.

Your Twitter timeline looks empty when there are still tweets on the counter, if you have more than 3200 posts. The social media platform only displays your most recent posts on your profile page.

The tweet counter may not show zero after deleting everything because Twitter didn’t update its database. It may take a while for the count to drop to zero.

Here is what the numbers in your task’s status message can mean:

  • Completed: TweetEraser finished the task without any errors.
  • Aborted: You canceled the task before completion.
  • Excluded: Our tool didn’t delete specific tweets because you excluded them.
  • Missing: Our service was unable to find the tweets you wanted to delete.
  • Forbidden: One of the selected tweets is inaccessible.
  • Error: TweetEraser faced an error while using Twitter’s API.

You may see the following errors, although rare, while using TweetEraser:

  • Account locked: Twitter locked your account because your actions violated the platform’s rules.
  • Authentication: TweetDelete can’t access your Twitter account as you revoked its permission on the social media platform.
  • Rate limit: You made several requests that exceeded Twitter’s rate limits.

Contact our customer support immediately if you see other errors.

No, we cannot restore your posts after you delete them. Twitter removes these posts from its database, so we can no longer access them. However, you’ll still have a copy if you download your Twitter Archive within 14 days after deleting the tweets.
