Is the platform against these types of accounts? The answer is both a yes and a no. Yes, because the platform does allow users to create bots. For example, <strong>@SearchThisImage<\/strong> is an X bot created by <strong>@selva83<\/strong>. When you tag this bot in a comment, it will reverse search the image in the post. But, this is hard to answer, as everyone gives different estimates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>According to Similarweb, the number of bots on X is less than 5%, corroborating Twitter\u2019s claim.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Researchers from <a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/pdf\/1703.03107.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Indiana University and the University of Southern California<\/a> believe it is 9% &#8211; 15%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1526465624326782976\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Elon Musk<\/a>, before the buyout, claimed that 20% of the profiles on X were fake or spam accounts. He also stated that he reduced the number of scams on Twitter by 90% after becoming the new owner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recently, The Guardian stated that bot activity was at an all-time high.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Should_You_Be_Careful_About_Twitter_Bot_Followers\"><\/span><strong>Should You Be Careful About Twitter Bot Followers?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, the answer to whether you should be careful about Twitter bot followers is both yes and no. App users have to swipe right to bring out this menu. For example, if there is a profile photo, you should reverse-search the image. If you find the picture is a stock photo or belongs to another person, the account may be a bot.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check the account\u2019s username for random numbers. Generally, bots use a strange combination of letters and numbers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>See how many people are following the account. Does it look like the tweets don\u2019t make sense, or does every post have a random URL? Again, there is no way to confirm, as the profile may belong to a real user. For example, if you see random numbers, it can mean the person who created the account in a hurry. Or they didn\u2019t find a username they liked, so they went with the one suggested by X. The platform will ask you what you want to do with its API.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019ll need to confirm your email address to proceed. Go to the portal and select <strong>+ Create Project<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill in the necessary details like app name, project name, description, and use case. X will now show you two keys and a token. Take a screenshot or save these details as you need them to create the bot.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>App Settings<\/strong> and choose <strong>Set Up<\/strong> underneath <strong>User Authentication Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Underneath <strong>App Permissions<\/strong> for OAuth 1.0a, change it to <strong>Read and Write and Direct Message<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Below the <strong>Type of App<\/strong>, choose <strong>Web<\/strong> <strong>App<\/strong>, <strong>Automated<\/strong> <strong>App<\/strong>, <strong>or<\/strong> <strong>Bot<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a <strong>Redirect<\/strong> <strong>URL<\/strong> and <strong>Website<\/strong> <strong>URL<\/strong>. These text fields are necessary to proceed. Click the Save button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The platform gives you a <strong>Client ID<\/strong> and <strong>Client Secret ID<\/strong>.
